Sustainability

At the TD Convention Center, we’re doing our part to keep the GREEN in Greenville by instituting a number of programs as part of a growing sustainability program.

A recently expanded recycling effort includes metals, plastics, cardboard, glass and mixed paper products.

All stationery and business cards are being printed on recycled paper, and we are using refilled printer toner cartridges.

We have introduced Green Seal approved, environmentally safe cleaning products, wherever possible.

Our multi-fold hand towels meet U.S. EPA standards for post-consumer wastepaper content, and bathroom tissue is manufactured from 100% recycled paper and is biodegradable.

We routinely restrict HVAC usage during non-event periods, and most recently shut-off our outdoor fountain in support of Greenville Water System’s voluntary guidelines to minimize water usage.

Our food and beverage division uses locally-based Leopard Forest Coffee Company as our exclusive provider of fresh whole bean, farmer direct coffee. The coffee is shipped from Zimbabwe, where it is grown under certified Fair Trade Practices. In addition to being selected Best Zimbabwean Coffee in 2005, 2006 and 2007, Leopard Forest has received the Innovative Farm Management Award from the Zimbabwean Coffee Growers Association for its innovative sustainable practices and high quality of farm life.

Other food and beverage programs include offering environmentally sustainable seafood products, sourcing local and regional produce when available, encouraging the use of reusable bulk containers for beverages, recycling cooking oil, and donating excess food product to local charities and food banks.
